Review of Entangled

Entangled (Spellbound #1)

By Nicki Jefford

Ecopy obtained from: NetGalley
Number of pages: 303

About the book:

Two months after dying, seventeen-year-old witch Graylee Perez wakes up in her twin sister Charlene’s body.

Until Gray finds a way back inside her own body, she’s stuck being Charlene every twenty-hour hours. Her sister has left precise instructions on how Gray should dress and behave. Looking like a prep isn’t half as bad as hanging out with Charlene’s snotty friends and gropey boyfriend.

The “normals” of McKinley High might be quick to write her behavior off as post-traumatic stress, but warlock Raj McKenna is the only person who suspects Gray has returned from the dead.

Now Gray has to solve the mystery of her death and resurrection and disentangle herself from Charlene’s body before she disappears for good.

***Entangled is a young adult paranormal fantasy romance suitable for ages 15 and up.***

My thoughts:

* I received a free ecopy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review *

I fell foul of the golden rule all readers are expected to obey, 'never judge a book by it's cover' with Entangled. Come on, have a look at it, do you really blame me?

I liked how the book didn't automatically drop into the death scene, it allowed the reader to get to learn a little about the twin sisters, their personalities, their friends, school and so on. I remember reading the summary a while back but by the time I started the book I had completely forgotten. So when Gray wakes up in her twin sister's body I was taken aback.

Although they are identical twin sister, they couldn't be more different. My favourite characters would have to be their mother, and the mysterious Raj. I felt their mother's pain when she stopped using magic after her daughter's almost-death. And, Raj was just Raj.

How Charlene could be so evil and heartless was beyond me, the more I learnt about her the more I realised she truly was the ultimate villain.

Loved the ending! Surprising, but enjoyable. Thanks Nikki!
